Q. When does “A Cut Above” start and finish?
The course will start w/c 3 October 2022 and runs for five months.
Q. How much can I expect to save?
If, like me, you can't go into a garden centre without filling a trolley, you will save a lot. The more you propagate, the more you will save. We want everyone who completes the course and propagates from their stock - and the stock of friends and family - to save at least £300 by the end of the course. But of course, this means you have to do the work, theres no magic wand to getting somthing for nothing (unless you are Mother Nature!)
Assuming you have one of each of the following, you could save £484 per year. Now, if you had 5 plants the savings would be £2356.00 per year, and 10 plants £4840.00.

Q. What if I’m not in the UK?
This is definitely not an issue. All sessions will be recorded, some are accompanied by supporting written documentation. This course focuses on making propagation and saving money regardless of location.
Q. I am just starting out. Is it too early for me to take this course?
If you have taken Seed to Vase or have grown (or gardened) for a season or more, this course will be perfect for you.

Q. Is this course for flower farmers or those growing for themselves?
Both!
The course is great for those on their flower farming journey and anyone trying to make the most of their own patch. It will make your flower farm business more cost effective (increasing your profits).
And if you are growing for pleasure, it will ensure that you can focus your investment in your cutting patch where it needs to be, rather than spending where you could save.
Q. What if I can’t make the live sessions?
All live sessions will be recorded and saved into the members area. There will be a students facebook group for you ask any questions in too so you will have plenty of support. We will build together a fabulous community and resource.

You’ll learn all things propagation and lots of sustainability too (many sustainable practises can save you money too) Don’t be put off if there are expressions or names in this list that mean nothing to you at the moment!
1. Introduction
- Equipment and tools – from cold frames to tunnels. Don’t worry a window ledge or conservatory will do just fine.
- Propagation – an introduction to all the methods we will be covering

2. Early Autumn
- Dividing herbaceous perennials
- Hardy annuals – what can go out now directly and what do we need to overwinter. We will share our full seed leaflet with you – all varieties we grow so you can get ahead.
- Forcing bulbs for Christmas
- Buying bulbs and what to look for. We will share our choices with you.
- Supplementary light systems and when to use them
3. Late Autumn
- Bulb planting -what, when and how.
- To lift or not lift dahlias
- Sowing sweet peas

Although not planning to be a flower farmer, I picked up lots of tips and ideas - partly just from seeing stuff- that I will find useful in growing for pleasure.
